Southern Cassowary

The cassowary is the world's current most dangerous bird. It is also the world's current third tallest and second heaviest living bird. They feed mainly on fruits and insects, and are very shy. However, when provoked the cassowary will leap into the air and kick the threat with its dagger-like talon on it's second claw. This defensive maneuver is very capable of gutting a human (below).
The cassowary has an average lifespan of 40 to 50 years.
