Spotted Hyena

The hyena is a large canine of the Hyaenidae. There are three species of hyenas one of which is the spotted hyena (the others are the striped hyena and aardwolf). The spotted hyena is the most aggressive and dangerous to humans, it also has the famous laugh-cackle that we commonly associate with hyenas. This hyena has the second most powerful bite in the animal kingdom, thanks to it's thick neck muscles. The spotted hyena's bite can break the leg of a rhinoceros. A common misconception about the hyena is that they are cowardly scavengers, while in truth, they prey on medium sized hoofed animals such as antelopes.
